School Nutrition Programs

Teachers are becoming more proactive in educating students about healthy lifestyles. In fact, many schools are establishing a healthy eating policy and developing a healthy hot lunch programs and fundraisers. There is no question that our society's school-aged children are becoming heavier and leading less active lifestyles. The combination of poor eating habits and spending too much time in front of screens, contribute to this problem. Studies show that students that choose healthier foods more often and lead an active lifestyle, have better learning abilities and improved behavior.

Teachers are busy. They do not need one more program to bring into their classroom making them work harder then they already do. With the Inspired Sprouts Healthy Classroom Program, the activities are curriculum based so they can be incorporated into many different teaching units. With the provided background information, teachers can be a source of relevant, up to date, and accurate information for their students.

Many of the teaching concepts are taught in the classroom and then the activities are completed at home to encourage involvement of the entire family. There are newsletters with relevant information to be sent home for families to read together; with activities, coloring, and recipes included.

All grade programs include a section on Eating Well With Canada's Food Guide, Trying New Foods and/or Healthy Food Choices, Hand Washing, and Positive Self-Image all organized in a handy kit with free clip art and activities ready to use.
